My BMW App
In April of 2021, BMW released the brand-new My BMW App, replacing the outgoing BMW Connected app. This new app includes a number of unique features that drivers of BMW models will appreciate, such as enhanced Amazon Alexa integration. This includes a new “wake-word” functionality for easier hands-free operation.
For starters, drivers can use the app as a universal interface for their vehicle, reviewing the status of the vehicle and remotely engaging certain functions (remote start, locking and unlocking, etc.). Customers who have financed a vehicle from BMW of Pharr will be able to access BMW Financial Services to check out their accounts, make payments, enroll in paperless statements, and more.
In addition, the My BMW App acts as the BMW Digital Key, allowing drivers to use their phones to lock and unlock their vehicle, turn on the BMW, and even set safety parameters for younger drivers, like max speed.
The My BMW App also includes Remote Software Upgrade notifications, a Climate Timer (to allow for pre-conditioning of vehicles with electric systems, whether heating or cooling — especially useful in our Texas heat), and a filter function for electric models to easily find charging stations. Finally, the My BMW App includes a Maps tab that enhances navigation, with options for BMW service centers (like BMW of Pharr), charging stations, gas stations, parking locations, and more.
The BMW Connected app will be fully retired by June 2021, so if you haven’t made the switch yet, we highly recommend downloading the new My BMW App and getting used to the new interface.
