Spark Plugs 101 - BMW of Pharr in McAllen, Texas

Getting your vehicle serviced amid the COVID-19 pandemic might seem risky, but that is why BMW of Pharr offers 100 percent contactless vehicle maintenance options, which includes a full sanitation of your vehicle before and after service. Our dealership is 100 percent compliant with all CDC guidelines, so you can keep on top of your vehicle’s maintenance checks.

One important service item that our certified technicians can help with is replacing your spark plugs.

What Are Spark Plugs?

Spark plugs, like your vehicle’s battery, are instrumental in the start-up process for your vehicle. These plugs quite literally create a spark that allow the ignition to turn over and thus start the car. When spark plugs begin to degrade, you may notice engine misfires, lower fuel economy, and cold starts. Eventually, if you do not replace your spark plugs, they simply will not work and you will need to arrange a tow to a nearby service center.

How Often Should I Replace My Spark Plugs?

To help keep your engine running smoothly, to improve fuel economy, and to avoid being stranded, you should replace your spark plugs as spelled out in your owner’s manual. The typical interval for most vehicles is every 30,000 miles.
